About
I’ve been fortunate to learn from mentors whose patience and kindness shaped my path. Anything I’ve managed to do comes from what they gave me.

I was born in Brooklyn in 1956 and grew up in Vermont. Martial arts became part of my life at eleven, leading to a black belt in 1974 and later an honorary eighth‑degree master instructor title.

After earning my B.A. at the University of Vermont, I moved to Israel to continue learning. Sixteen years in Tomchei Temimim led to rabbinic ordination, a PhD‑equivalency, and certification as a rabbinic attorney.

I then served over a decade as a chaplain and staff officer — at the rank of Major — in the Israel Prison Service, while also serving as a Chabad campus chaplain at Tel Aviv University.
Today, I write, reply to halacha inquiries, and stay active in the Israeli martial arts community. My work in halacha, memoir, and children’s literature is simply an effort to offer clarity or comfort. If anything here helps someone, I feel I’ve honored those who guided me.
